Our family was upended when our 19 yr old son began having psychotic episodes. Originally, we didn’t know people like Trisha Robinson existed, and the treatment center he was in was a disastrous experience. When we finally found Trisha, she came alongside us in an “emergency” capacity as we needed a new facility for our son. Since that time, she has helped us navigate this foreign system of mental health— treatment centers, psychiatrists, legal questions. She also helped our family understand our son’s illness, what we were up against, as well as potential healing. At such a desperate and chaotic time, she brought a peace, and a semblance of order to our entire family. Most importantly for us, she had a plan. Trisha’s expertise is extensive. She would honestly talk with us about the reality of the illness, as well as a path forward. She helps us choose treatment programs, communicate with the centers when necessary, and is a trusted counsel. Our son is still in treatment, but is gradually healing. Trisha has saved us a lot of time, money, and emotional energy because of her knowledge of the industry, and her genuine interest in my family and my son. She is sincerely invested in his success. We are very grateful.
Becoming a young adult is often an exciting and transformative period, but for some, it can also feel overwhelming and fraught with challenges. Many young adults face difficulties such as “failure to launch,” struggles with college persistence, employment obstacles, and engagement in risky behaviors. These challenges can be deeply concerning for caregivers, and we want to acknowledge the patience, commitment, and care that families invest during this transitional time. Whether the next step involves exploring a gap year before college, pursuing more intensive support, or enhancing resources at home, we take a collaborative and creative approach to developing individualized support plans. Central to this process is ensuring the young adult remains engaged and empowered to participate actively in decisions about their future. Our goal is to support both the young adult and their family in navigating this complex stage with compassion and practical solutions.
